Blists Hill

BLISTS HILL MUSEUM

Blists Hill Museum In the Ironbridge Gorge, Shropshire is a re-constructed Victorian town.
It’s got a bank where you can change modern money Into Victorian money to spend in the shops.

It’s got a Fish and chip shop where you can buy fish and chips and It’s also got a sweet shop that sells old fashion sweets such as cough candy, humbugs, lemon drops, pear drops and sherbet. It’s got a Chemists, dressmakers, Victorian fashion, bread shop that sells fresh baked bread, butcher shop which sells pork pies, sausage rolls.
You can go into the doctor’s house with its outside toilet, school room with desks, which have Ink wells that were used with Ink pens.

There’s a mine shaft and a wagon, which shows how the coal was moved up from the mine.
On the village green there’s a carousel which Suggs from the pop group Madness helped to restore, there’s a fairground with coconut shies, darts, shooting, hook a duck which you can have a go on.
The church is corrugated Iron and is small.

They’ve got the foundry, which make door stops, signs for gardens etc some of which you can buy at the gift shop.
You can go and have your dinner and a drink in the pub and behind the pub there’s a garden where they grow their own vegetables.
There’s a candle maker who has nodding donkey, which is a machine with wicks tied on, and they are dipped into melted wax to make candles.
If you go all the way down the hill there’s Squatters cottage, which has chickens and pigs in the garden.
There’s an outside toilet, which belongs to Squatters cottage.

The Forest Glenn café used to be at the bottom of the Wrekin and was moved to Blists Hill.
You can get cup of tea, coffee and something to eat.
There’s a Miner’s walk which takes about half an hour which is a walk through the woods.

When you’ve finished having a browse round there’s a gift shop where you can buy gifts and souvenirs of your day out.
I think It’s worth going to have a day out at Blists Hill Museum.
